Organizations don't just sell products and provide services -- they present a voice. What story are you telling? Does your medium fit your message? Is it informed by a clear mission that will compel your community?

These are the kinds of questions I am passionate about answering through creative communications, program development, and strategy consulting -- and all three are usually interconnected. Every organization has a soul, and I have extensive experience pinpointing what makes each one unique. Then I build upon it and share it out into the world, navigating a continuously evolving landscape of technology.

Where I'm coming from:

I specialize in education, nonprofits, and technology. As the former Senior Director of Publications & Communications for the New Media Consortium (NMC), I managed the world-renowned NMC Horizon Project and NMC Horizon Report series, analyzing emerging technology uptake in various learning sectors across the globe. I have co-authored ~60 edtech-focused  publications and traveled the world presenting the findings via keynotes, workshops, and more. One of my most humbling speaking engagements was presenting on a NASA panel about improving learning experiences and public engagement for planetary science.

In addition to extensive experience in emerging technologies for teaching and learning contexts, I have expertise in content strategy/production and digital communications with special interests in online learning, digital literacy, and social media.

Prior to 2011, I facilitated the digitization of books and periodicals for several of the world’s largest publishers at the cusp of the "e-book boom." In 2013, I designed and taught the first online course ever to exclusively take place in Facebook, geared towards training education professionals to integrate social media into their teaching practices. From 2011-2017, I managed, helped develop, or consulted on edtech-focused projects for National Geographic, HP, Apple, Adobe, the Lunar & Planetary Institute, and the Gates Foundation.

Through the Horizon Project, I also collaborated with institutions, government agencies, and NGOs from across the world to engage with communities of education professionals and produce resources that prepare the field for future trends. In 2017, I earned a graduate professional certificate in nonprofit management via Harvard University — just before becoming a first-time mother.

Whether you're coming from a university, nonprofit, or technology startup (or other!), SAB is here to amplify the vision and voice you share with your community.
